Rands Contributes to Scholarly Articles

Staff member Melissa Rands is a contributing author of three upcoming publications. 

She is the first author on “The Role of Faculty Learning Communities in Supporting Team-Based Learning,” a paper published in the Journal of Faculty Development. This article discusses the role of faculty learning communities (FLCs) in team-based learning (TBL) initiatives at a large university. Reviews found that FLCs provide crucial support for TBL practitioners while fostering connections between members.

“Connections and distinctions: Perspectives on design activity from industrial design and electrical engineering” and “Variations in student learning in an inquiry-based freshmen electrical engineering course”are proceedings for this year's Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Frontiers in Education Conference. Rands served as a methodologist on both pieces, which will be published in October following the conference.
