Josh Quigley ’08, MFA, has been selected as one of three winners of the Conscientious Portfolio Competition. Annually produced by Conscientious Photo Magazine, the competition was judged by Alice Rose George, Ann-Christin Bertrand, and the magazine's founder and editor Jörg M. Colberg. The other 2013 winners are Dorothee Deiss and Bahar Habibi.

This Thursday, faculty member Aaron Van Dyke is launching four volumes: Introduction (+ Nothing), Philosophy, History, and Writing. Each book contains 'writings' woven together from various sources, often at odds with each other. The books will be available for purchase in a handmade, fan-bound version, made possible through a residency at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and as commercially printed paperbacks.

Nathan Lewis ’08, MFA, has a busy (and spooky) fall season in the works:

Tomorrow evening he will be lecturing on spirit photography at the Ramsey House; very fitting for Halloween night.

And later tomorrow night he will be telling ghost stories at the American Swedish Institute's Cocktails at the Castle Halloween Bash. An installation of his is on view as well.

Next month he will be participating in the event "Visitations" at Wing Young Huie's space in Minneapolis.

Associate professor Natasha Pestich is a participant in this year's Boston Printmakers 2013 North American Print Biennial, a highly competitive juried exhibition that invites international artists to submit print-based works. Natasha Pestich's series of prints was one of 139 entries selected from over 2,306 submissions.

Faculty member Ed Charbonneau and his wife were featured in the Star Tribune for the major makeover they performed on their 1950s home. Enlisting the help of Charbonneau's uncle, local architect Daryl Hanson, their digs have been updated to include a more open floorplan, customized furniture, and a tiki-themed porch.
