Cindy Gilbert, director of MCAD's Master of Arts in Sustainable Design program, has been invited to lead an Open Meetup entitled "To MOOC or Not to MOOC: Let's Talk About Online Edu" at the  National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance's (NCIIA's) annual Open Conference in San Jose, California, in late March.

Gilbert will also be presenting two papers about cutting-edge, fully online coursework being developed for MCAD's master of arts program. These courses have been made possible because of NCIIA grants awarded to the program in 2011 and 2013.

Faculty member Kara Andree is part of the group exhibition From Beyond the Window at the Katherine E. Nash gallery.

Over a century ago, abstraction became a game-changer in the field of visual arts. From Beyond the Window explores a variety of approaches to abstraction through the visual language of form, color, and line.

Andree's work has been exhibited at the UB Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY, and the Rochester Contemporary Art Center in Rochester, NY. It is also included in several private collections.

The exhibition features over fifty international artists who have come together to create an interactive world of allure, ambiance, and attitude.

Visiting faculty member Jason Ramey is showing sculptural work in two exhibitions, both opening late this month. In his latest work, Ramey examines the ill-defined space between art, craft, and design. By imbuing found objects with stories from his past, Ramey welcomes viewers to examine the importance of the seemingly mundane objects that surround them daily.
