Gregory Euclide (MFA '08) is opening a solo show at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. The show opens March 24th. 


Jody Williams, Jim Dryden - "18 Images with a Common Thread" at Form+Content

Jody Williams' book exhibition "Connections: 18 Images with a Common Thread" opened at Form+Content Gallery on January 5 and ran through February 4.


Jennifer Danos - Architectonic Obtrusion 3

Adjunct faculty Jennifer Danos has a show a Bethel University's Johnson Gallery titled "Arcitectronic Obtrusion 3". The show opened on February 8 and will continue through March 25. Danos also gave a talk on the exhibition on February 8 at Bethel University.


Zach Collins

Zach Collins just had nine collage pieces accepted into the Art of Recovery exhibition sponsored by the MN State Arts Board. The exhibition opens in Lowertown, St. Paul, April 2-June 29. Collins also has work in Entanglement, a collage show at Fox Tax, MPLS, which will be up through April.


Nathaniel Freeman

Visiting faculty Nathaniel Freeman was interviewed by NPR's Weekend Edition for a story about Minnesota's Ice Shanty Project. Freeman's photos accompany the online story.

Susan Boeckmann

Continuing studies instructor Susan Boeckmann will be featured in the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts’ “First Show”. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 7 from 5-7pm at the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts

Christine Daves completed a textbook review on Creating Career Success: Your Game Plan, by Francine Fabricant, Debra Stark, and Jennifer Miller, for Wadsworth I Cengage Learning

Daves has also been asked to teach a 1 credit Career and Internship Planning course for the College of Design at University of Minnesota in Spring 2012. The class will be comprised of architects, landscape architects, interior designers and fashion designers. 


Fullerton

Terri Fullerton exhibited her work “Falling in Love at the End of the Universe” as a part of the IFP Minnesota Center for Media Arts’ latest exhibition “Unshared Sacrifice”. Fullerton was also awarded the 2010-2011 Jerome Foundation Emerging Artists Fellowship.

Allen Brewer at Grayduck Gallery

Allen Brewer is participating in a show at Occupy Space gallery in Limerick, Ireland in May. Brewer is also a part of a group collage show in December at FoxTax in Minneapolis, as well as a three person show at GrayDuck gallery in Austin, TX in January. In November, Brewer and his wife, Pam Valfer, created a collaborative mural for VitaMN’s 5th anniversary event. Brewer auctioned off two pieces for the Movember charity event at Pink Hobo gallery. 


Cindy Gilbert SciGirls

Cindy Gilbert attended the Partnership for Academic Leadership in Sustainability (PALS) conference to report on MCAD’s sustainability initiatives (both academic and institutionally) in New York, NY. 

Gilbert is also appearing on a PBS Kids’ show called SciGirls. The filming will take place in MN and she’ll be working with a team of girls to use biomimicry concepts and tools to solve a sustainability challenge. 


Wendy Jedlicka was an invited speaker at the Design School at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. 


Doug Pierce was an invited speaker at the 2011 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Minnesota Annual Convention.

Dion Zuess was an invited speaker at the 2011 University and College Designers Association (UCDA) Design Conference. Due to this experience, she was featured on Graphic Design USA’s blog.

Sand

Amy Sands’ solo exhibition ran from October 10 - November 11 at Buena Vista University Gallery in Storm Lake, IA. Sands gave a public lecture on November 11 at BVU. Four of Sands’ pieces from the exhibit were purchased by BVU for their permanent collection.

Kareken

Michael Kareken has a solo show at Washington & Lee University in Virginia until December 10, with twenty five paintings and drawings, including several very large canvases. Kareken traveled to Washington & Lee University in November to give a lecture and student workshops.


Adjunct faculty Pam Valfer partipated in a group show at Cube Gallery in Manchester, England this month. Valfer was also a part of a two person show at Burnet Art Gallery at The Chambers Hotel in November. Lastly, Valfer participated in a second two person show (with Allen Brewer) at Occupy Space gallery in Limerick, Ireland. 

 

 


Kyle Staver

Kyle Staver (BFA Sculpture ‘76) memorialized her older brother with her work “Biker Triptych” which was on view as a part of “Kyle Staver: A Survey of Paintings and Prints” at the Pennsylvania College of Art. The exhibition was open from November 18 through January 20. See the Huffington Post’s piece on Staver below!

Rich Barlow - "A Crow's Nest"

Rich Barlow has a solo exhibition A Crow’s Nest in October. Barlow was also awared the Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Fellowship for the coming year!

 


Abbi Allan at Gallery 801

Adjunct faculty Abbi Allan’s work is featured in a show at Gallery 801 through January. 

Allan is also involved in the organization of “Books for Africa,” a collaborative exhibit between the Science Museum of Minnesota and MCAD, which opened December 10 from 5-7pm. 

Allan participated in the Monster Drawing Rally on December 17. 


Jody Williams traveled to Ireland this summer to attend the annual meeting of the Miniature Book Society, thanks in part to a Faculty Development Grant. Williams exhibited her work at the conference book fair, and connected with other book artists from Europe who were also exhibiting. After the conference, Williams returned to the Burren to visit friends, and collected specimens and images for a body of work to be exhibited in a solo show, “Starting from Nothing”, at Form+Content Gallery in the fall of 2012.
