Adjunct faculty Zak Sally just released Sammy the Mouse: Volume 1, from La Mano books. The 104 page collection of the first 3 issues of Zak Sally's Sammy the Mouse comic was printed by Sally on his own offset press.
Visiting artist Jim Keefe was featured on MPR News's blog in a spotlight on MCAD. Keefe’s work on the Flash Gordon newspaper strip is part of a traveling exhibition, titled One Fine Sunday in the Funny Pages. The exhibition is curated by Stay Tooned publisher John Read.
Tyler Stefanich ’09 has been awarded a two month residency at Blast Theory. Blast Theory provides studio spaces for artists, scientists, and theorists with the goal of creating an interdisciplinary community of international significance. The residency program is initiated and run by artists. It aims to provide a space for residents to research and develop new work in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Madeline Queripel ’10 was recently featured on Gocomics.com, the largest internet repository for comic strips—including all of the comics and editorial cartoons from Universal, United Media, Creators, TMS, and Washington Post Writers Group.
Graphic design students and MCAD AIGA student chapter leaders Amy Grace and Brian Mueller, as well as faculty advisor Jan Jancourt, hosted the MN PIVOT event at MCAD on January 19 at the student center. The guest speaker is internationally renowned MCAD alum Charles S. Anderson.
