Minneapolis — April 2021—The Master of Fine Arts 2021 graduates at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design invite you to our Thesis Exhibition 2021. This is the culminating exhibition by our 2021 thesis candidates who have spent one whole year on their research, making work and developing each of their unique ideas into a final gallery show. Get a chance to view work by our high caliber, emerging artists as they host Minnesota’s creative community. This year our candidates explore a vast array of ideas through a multitude of forms including installation, video, illustration, sculpture, interdisciplinary practice, and multimedia.

MCAD’s master of fine arts in visual studies program is a community of makers, thinkers, researchers, and creative professionals working in a mentor-based, interdisciplinary environment. Our four-semester curriculum is designed to expand your thinking as you take advantage of the Twin Cities’ vibrant art and design scene. The diverse student body—one with a robust international presence—explores and fulfills social, cultural, and professional needs, as well as entrepreneurial opportunities stretching across practices. Students are encouraged and supported in exploring wide-ranging processes and histories via rigorous studio practice, individual mentorship, research, and intense discourse. Students work in a variety of modes; intermedia practices are supported and encouraged: engaged & public arts, film and video, graphic design, drawing & painting, performance, animation, comic arts, furniture design, illustration, sculpture, installation, interactive media, paper and book arts, photography, and printmaking.


Recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to visual arts education, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design is home to 800 students and offers professional certificates, bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of science degrees, and graduate degrees.
