Adobe InDesign: Creating Documents

Whether you are new to page-layout software or are a graphics professional familiar with QuarkXPress or Apple's Pages software, this introductory class will provide the groundwork for creating print-ready documents of professional quality using the Adobe page-layout program, Adobe InDesign. Students start by exploring InDesign's work area: the tools, menu commands, and palettes before learning the basics of the application: setting up documents; formatting text and manipulating objects; defining colors; and using swatches.

This class will also highlight some of InDesign's unique features in the course of demonstrations: the Paragraph Composer for improved typographic quality; user-definable resolution of proxies for placed graphic files; context-sensitive pop-up menus; priority hyphenation; and special typographical effects. / This class will have a one-hour lunch break. / Each student will have access throughout the class to a lab workstation equipped with the latest software. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.
