Creativity and the Humanities

This class is designed to offer a comprehensive introduction to research and strategic planning techniques for artists. The instructor will address questions such as: What makes a compelling artist statement? How do you write a residency proposal? Through lecture, discussion, collaboration, and sharing, students will explore creative ways to advance and promote their art practice from residency opportunities to using social media for promotional purposes.

Students will explore a variety of platforms and structures to share their work and professional updates. Emphasis will be placed on getting the word out about one's artistic life through making connections digitally and personally, enhanced by a variety of writing exercises to develop content about one's work. We will also develop a community of colleagues for feedback and ongoing support./ This class will have a one-hour lunch break. / Open to students ages 18 and above.

What to bring: Pen or pencil, notebook or sketchbook, previous artist statements, resumes, biographies, or proposals.

Register Before: April 2
If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.

Class Savings
Register on or before January 22 and save $25.
