Working professionals and hobbyists alike are all susceptible to bad habits, time wasting and the whimsy of our muse. Learn tips and tricks for overcoming the pitfalls of your art practice and focus on a new path forward. This course is for artists at any level seeking to develop healthy tendencies, productive routines and a better understanding of how you participate in your creative field. Through a combination of lectures, discussions and research, students will be encouraged to explore methods for motivating themselves and inspiring creativity. These concepts will be guided and reinforced through the production of a series of mixed media creative exercises. Prerequisite: Previous drawing and/or painting experience are helpful, but not required. Experience in any artistic field will be helpful and may lead to a more fulfilling experience in the class, but beginners are also welcome.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. You should assemble a basic art kit consisting of a sketchbook; ink pen; charcoal; pencils; crayons; masking tape; scissors (or xacto blade); PVA glue; gel medium; a few brushes; a rag; a cup for water; plastic palette; black and white paint. Additional items may be added to the list for specific assignments. Also bring any inspiring texts, videos or resources you have found in your travels.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.
