Art Educators Workshop: Storytelling and Editing with Video

Stories shape our culture and define who we are and motion pictures (film and video) are more prevalent today than ever before. Digital video can be an effective medium for collecting, delivering, and sharing stories in class and online. This workshop is for educators interested in using filmmaking as a classroom technique to tell a narrative. Educators may apply these new skills and formulate project and assignments for their classrooms.

This workshop will provide a hands-on experience with digital storytelling and video production that will include pre-production, voice-over narration, graphics, digital photo, video and sound editing resulting in a personal short video story. Smartphone technology and social media video sharing and settings will be reviewed.

No prior experience with video production is required but it is helpful to be familiar with Mac OS X.

Class time will be split between presentations, dialogue, and studio time. Materials fee of $5 in addition to class tuition.

Art educators need to take their work with them on the last day of the workshop. Please consider bringing extra money if mailing work home will be necessary. Any work remaining after the workshop will be disposed of.

This class will have a one-hour lunch break each day. / Graduate credit is available. / Open to students ages 18 and above. / View complete policies.

Art Educator Workshops are not eligible for the early or multiple class registration discounts.
