Art in Flight (Observational Art) Co-Presented with the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center

Studio Kids is very excited to be working with the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center this week!  Each day a special guest bird from the Raptor Center will be on campus for live-drawing and art making opportunities and information sessions, including Q&A. With the magnificent guest birds, students will focus on studying the birds, capturing the birds’ movements, and creating artwork in response to these creatures of flight! Students will create drawings and moving sculptures, as they learn about line, form, and how to convey motion. This class will also take a mini field trip over to the Minneapolis Institute of Art to check out mobiles and other artworks that demonstrate the theme of flight and movement. On Friday, all the artworks will come together in a display for friends and family. / Open to students ages 6-9. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. / View complete policies.

Please note representatives from the Raptor Center will be at MCAD every morning. Schedule will include an hour information and Q&A session about the daily visiting bird and an hour of observational drawing and art-making with birds present.
