Comic Book Creation 2

Build on the skills learned in the Comic Book Creation 1 class with this follow-up class! Students will take what they learned and apply it by looking deeper into the diverse world of comics and exciting, alternative formats of storytelling. By working through speed sketching exercises and relevant assignments, students will learn how to produce comics at a faster pace, allowing them to create even more original characters and storylines to match their quick imaginations. Throughout the class, the techniques, materials, and disciplines used to create professional comic art will guide instruction. Students will also focus on the following skills: gesture drawing; page layout and composition; inking; advanced lettering; and sound effects. / Open to students ages 12–15. / View complete policies here.

Prerequisite: Previous drawing experience. Completion of Comic Book Creation 1 or its equivalent.

What to bring: Pen or pencil, notebook or sketchbook. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.

What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
