In this course students will explore digital painting techniques inspired by traditional painting approaches and processes. Projects and assignments will be focused on painting from observation, working from life, and from photographic reference material. Subject matter will range from still life and landscape to the human figure. This course will focus on painting skills and how they can be used digitally. A brief introduction to Photoshop and basic tools will be covered for those not familiar with the program. All demos and instruction will be done in Photoshop, but students may use any digital painting program during the class. / Each student will have access throughout the class to a lab workstation equipped with the latest software. / Materials fee of $3 in addition to course tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.

Prerequisites: Previous drawing and painting experience helpful, but not required. Working knowledge of Mac OS X. Beginner-level experience with Adobe Photoshop required.

What to Bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. USB drive or cloud storage option for saving work.
