Dive into the strange and wonderful world under the sea! Explore elements and concepts such as primary and secondary colors, contrasting colors, overlapping shapes, 3-dimensional forms, and texture. Students will craft papier mache sculptures of sea creatures, paint wildly colorful scenes of coral reefs, and engineer deep sea exploration submersible. Throughout the week the class will study glass sculptures by Dale Chihuly, sea creature illustrations by Ernst Haeckel and visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art to check out sea-related artworks. The class will culminate in a vibrant display of students’ sea-worthy creations for families to admire and celebrate the work of these young artists! / Open to students ages 6-9. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. / View complete policies.

Need extended care for your child during the day? The Children's Theatre Company next door offers morning and afternoon care for MCAD camp participants.

What to bring: Please bring a packed lunch each day. What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
