Introduction to Procreate for iPad: Drawing Techniques (Online)

Please note: This class is tentatively scheduled. If you are interested in registering, please join the waitlist and you will be contacted once the schedule is finalized.

Over the years the Procreate app has become more and more sophisticated and an industry standard for digital illustration and graphic design. This course will cover the basics of drawing with Procreate on ipad. After students become familiar with the user interface of the app, they will learn more advanced skills that can bring digital drawing skills to a new level: such as how to import and use third-party brushes that perfectly recreate the realistic strokes and aesthetics of watercolor, charcoal drawing, or oil paint; how to use an ink brush to create vintage hand lettering for a graphic design poster project; capturing the memory of a summer camping trip by combining an imported photo with creative doodling; and methods for creating a quick sketch for a comic story...the possibilities are limitless! Through demonstrations, students will learn how to utilize the most portable and convenient tool of iPencil and iPad to serve their various artistic purposes.

Each class will focus on a real-world project scenario: such as a poster design project, landscape drawing, or a short animation gif. Class sessions will include demonstrations relevant to the project scenario and studio-time for students to experiment on their own. During studio-time the instructor will be available to students assistance and feedback. Students will have the opportunity to share their work and get inspired by one another. / Open to students ages 16 and above. View complete policies.

This online course will be synchronous, meaning students will meet together online. Class meetings will be conducted via Zoom and will consist of lectures, demonstrations, exercises, and time to ask questions and share resources. Class meetings will be recorded.
