Make, Print, Repeat: Introduction to Printmaking

Dive into the expansive world of printmaking using MCAD’s state of the art printshop. Produce prints while learning and exploring various techniques; relief, etching, mono printing, and screenprinting. Students will learn safe printmaking practices, how to properly use printshop equipment, translate a drawing or idea into a print and learn color and ink mixing techniques. The class will include demonstrations and time for creating and printing. Students will also contribute to a collaborative artist book and will design a t-shirt to print and take home!  Non-toxic, water-based inks will be used. Demonstrations will be given in all printmaking areas. / Facilities fee of $30 and materials fee of $35 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 15–18. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. / View complete policies here.

Prerequisites: Previous drawing experience helpful, but not required. What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. Sketchbook and ideas or drawings of images you might want to use in making your prints. At least one blank t-shirt to print on. What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity and that can get inky, an apron if desired. Closed toe shoes. Open toe shoes (i.e. sandals, flip flops) are not allowed in the printmaking studio. Long hair should be tied back.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.

Class Savings: Register for more than one class at a time and receive $25 off each additional class (same-day registrations only).
