Making Waves (Water Exploration in Art) (On Campus)

Students will get hooked while diving into drawing, painting, and sculpting, while learning about life underwater. The class will start the week by looking at artworks by artists such as Robert Wyland, Hokusai, and Henri Matisse who all created fantastic underwater worlds. If possible, students will visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art to get inspiration for their bubbly works. The class will make observational drawings of sea life, paint swimmers, and sculpt our own sea creatures using fabric, embossing metal, and other fun and funky materials. / Open to students ages 9–12. What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
