Fine Arts

This course will focus on experimentation as the key to exploring the boundaries of drawing. Building on observation and abstraction skills, students will explore using unconventional materials as a way to examine the possibilities of mark-making, space, and surfaces. Spontaneity and improvisation are the methods of exploration in the creation of mixed media drawings. Emphasis will be placed on examining the relationship between how drawings are made and what they potentially express. In this 5-week course, we will split studio time between exploring drawing in everyday life, dialogue of experimental drawing, and drawing time. This is the second section of a two-part series, but each section may also be taken as a stand alone class.
