Pre-College Weekend Intensive: Watercolor

Teens in this two-day intensive class will work from observation, photographs, and their imaginations to create exciting watercolor paintings. Students will learn traditional and non-traditional approaches to watercolor painting, including how to transfer an existing drawing into the base for a painting, and how to execute washes and blends. Traditional techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry brush will be demonstrated, as well as experimental techniques such as mono print transfer, stamping, salting, splattering, and stenciling. Class time will be spent on demonstrations, lecture, studio time, and critique. / Materials fee of $33 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 15–18. / View complete policies.

Prerequisite: Previous drawing and/or painting experience helpful, but not required.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook.

What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.
