Storytelling through Figure Painting (Online)

This course will give students tools to enhance storytelling within figurative painting. Students will investigate narrative figure painting by studying historical and contemporary paintings in order to develop new strategies in their own paintings. Through discussions and brief writings students will learn to define their own allegorical and conceptual goals. The instructor will address how students can push their painting approaches with subtractive and additive processes, color, and new visual hierarchies in order to create evocative visual narratives. / Professional nude models may be used. / Open to students ages 16 and above. This online course will be synchronous, meaning students will meet together online.
