Title:
Tintype Workshop
Instructor:
Price:
$134.00

The Wetplate Collodion process is the second oldest commercially successful photographic process; its heyday lasted from 1851 until the end of the 19th century. The technique was highly successful worldwide, and enjoyed an especially vibrant life in the United States. The process was long dormant, but has experienced a renaissance in the past few decades. This hands-on workshop will focus on the Tintype version of the Wetplate Collodion process. A Tintype is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a photographic emulsion. Students will have a chance to go through the entire process of learning and making Tintype images themselves, from start to finish. The first class session will cover making images; the second session will cover varnishing and finishing. / This class will have a one-hour lunch break each day. / Materials fee of $75 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.
