The MCAD Creative Women Gathering is an event held on the third Thursday of the month. This gathering aims to inspire current students as well as to celebrate the success of our alumni. Events will include light snacks, inspiring conversation, and networking.
Joining us for this event will be Abbi Allan ’08, MFA.
After graduating from Perpich Center for Arts Education, Allan, a Minneapolis native, attended the New York State School of Ceramics Art and Design, Alfred University, where she received her BFA and minors in both biology and art history. She then went on to complete her MFA in sculpture here at MCAD.
Allan's work ranges from beautiful, floral-like ceramic sculptures to work that, stemming from her biology studies, examines the fragility of nature tormented by toxins. As an undergraduate, she researched and made work about chemical pollutants and their genetic effects. In the future, she plans to further explore these issues and others in larger, more experimental work, while expanding her representation both nationally and internationally.
