Erika Nelson is an art historian who specializes in modern and contemporary Latin American art. Her current research examines the role of nineteenth-century Mexican political cartoons in the construction of national identity after Mexican independence. She will present her current research regarding this topic at the 2016 College Art Association conference.

Previously, Nelson's work centered on the contemporary bookmaking practices of Mexican artists Enrique Chagoya and Guillermo Gómez-Peña, and Nelson has presented research regarding their work at Tufts University, the Southeast College Art Conference, and the 2015 Midwest Art History Society conference.
