SENIOR, ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES
ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES SENIOR MERIT SCHOLARSHIP $4,000

Describe the work you submitted for merits.

The work I submitted for merits this year has reflected more of my personal growth, identity, and values. I felt these pieces brought me closer to an understanding of who I am as a creative and where I stand on economic, social, and cultural issues. Many of these pieces could only be accomplished through moments of vulnerability, both as confronting my own emotions and attempting something completely new and scary.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

I came to MCAD because I wanted a challenge. The subject of art encapsulates everything–communication, history, culture, language, and resilience. I definitely did not know what I wanted my future to be, but I thought MCAD was a good start to dip my toe in a little bit of everything while being surrounded by what I love most

What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?

I plan to take my time in Minneapolis for a few years before moving to a new city. My goal is to try to build relationships with people and organizations that share my values which will hopefully lead to opportunities to work with them on inspiring community projects. I definitely plan to stay within the nonprofit sector and focus my work on social, cultural, and climate issues. Oh, and also to be outside as much as possible!

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

The people. I would not be who I am, be doing what I love, and believe in myself as much as I do without my arts entrepreneurship family.

What's the best thing you've got from MCAD's free shelf?

Altoids.

What inspires you?

Stories.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

I don't have favorite pieces, but my favorite experience was leading a workshop about climate change for a high school science class during my internship. They shared their personal stories about systemic racism, mental health, education, and abuse. This is when I had the realization that the youth are going to change the world.

Anything you're obsessed with at the moment?

Kimchi with my eggs!

Junior, Entrepreneurial Studies
Entrepreneurial Studies Merit Scholarship $2,000

How are you going to celebrate your win?

By congratulating myself with a nice cup of peppermint tea and enjoying a movie in my bed.

What kind of work are you excited to make next?

I've been tackling what seems to be endless client projects since I started here at MCAD, but I'm excited to finally create something for myself. I'm thinking more along the lines of bookmaking or finally getting myself to create a portfolio site.

What made you choose to come to MCAD?

Believe it or not, MCAD was not my first choice, but after the first year, I realized that I wouldn't have wanted to go to any other school. The people, classes, atmosphere, location of the campus and the arts entrepreneurship department are major factors in why I choose to stay.
