They say art brings people together. And the proof is in these MCAD couples.

Names: Nick and Hannah Love

Length of relationship: Six-and-a-half years

How did you two meet/become a couple?

We met at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul in 2011 and started dating throughout college. When CVA was announced to close in 2013 we transferred to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design for our senior year, graduating together in 2014 with an illustration and photography major. Since graduating we've started our own business making landscape photography encaustics.

Nick, what was your first impression of Hannah?

When I first met Hannah was foundation year, usually in passing. She was very kind and always said hello. She asked for help on a photography project she was working on. I thought it would be a good time to ask her on a date, we both showed up to the coffee shop but she actually brought homework to work on. We ended up talking for a couple hours. Six years later, we're happily married and still both don't actually drink coffee.

Hannah, what was your first impression of Nick?

I originally asked him for help on a self-portrait homework assignment and he asked me out on a date. I thought he was going to bring his homework to study, but that wasn't his plan! We sat there and talked for hours about one another. I liked him from the start.

Valentine's Day: love it or hate it?

Love-Hate. With the last name Love, it's hard to really like it. We usually buy a small gift or go out to eat.

Your ideal date would be . . .

Our date nights usually end up hitting the local sushi place for some spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. Otherwise, we like to stay in and (after about forty-five minutes of choosing) watching a movie under fifteen blankets with some sort of frozen treat and a bulldog at our feet.
