It seems that MFA alum Leslie Barlow is the talk of the town lately.

Although Barlow is usually the one behind the canvas, she recently became the subject of Reggie LeFlore's mural celebrating local women who have helped shape the history of South Minneapolis. The piece was commissioned by Jared Brewington, owner of Funky Grits restaurant.

"I thought it was important to incorporate a community-inspired work of art within the space. Through public policy, the arts, social justice, and youthful optimism these women embody the resiliency, creativity, culture, and hope of our historic community." —Brewington

Additionally, Barlow's exhibition A Familiar Portrait of Labor and Love has made the A-List in the Best of the Twin Cities issue of City Pages. The show is currently on view at Le Meridien Chambers.
