Andrea Carlson ’05, MFA, recently wrote an article for MPLS Art.

In A Mothership Connection: Past Futures of Resurrection and Absence, Carlson talks about the implications of Afro- and Indigenous Futurisms and their relation to pop culture. She tackles topics such as the popular interest of the Mayan Calendar in 2012, the Chariot DeVille, and the Final Judgment.

Carlson is a visual artist based in Chicago and St. Paul. Her work is in the collections of the British Museum, the Weisman Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Canada.
