Samantha French stands before a vast canvas, taller than she is. She is adding detail to the painting, which is a close-up portrait of a woman underwater, the surface of the pool rippling around her head.
French in her studio

Samantha French ‘05 has an ongoing gallery show at the Carrie Haddad Gallery, available for view remotely.

French, a full-time painter based in Brooklyn, New York, draws inspiration from her own reflections and memories of childhood summers spent in the lakes of Northern Minnesota. Her current body of work explores the idea of escape, the tranquility and nostalgia for the lazy summer days of her childhood. French actively exhibits her paintings and is included in many private and public collections throughout the country while her work has garnered extensive international and national press.
