Sarah Nicole Knutson ’18 has curated an exhibition titled A Complex Desire at Sure Space Gallery, which consists of a solo presentation by Kieran Myles-Andrés Tverbakk ’16.

Tverbakk's first solo exhibition is composed of new labor-intensive and conceptual sculpture works that hold a conversation of gender identity and reclamation. Found and collected materials are given new functions through tedious technical undertakings by the artist.

The work is personal, pulling from Tverbakk's archived family photos and experiences. The elasticity of form and the individual self is displayed in a radical act of vulnerability. Tverbakk invites viewers to reflect on how our experiences align as opposed to how they differ. This call for empathy is further encouraged by weather-worn surfaces, a beauty in their reminder of human impermanence.
