Faculty member Anne Labovitz's new exhibition Response is on view at Burnet Fine Art.

“Response investigates the intimacy of color and space,” Labovitz says of the works. “For me, color is a personal reflection, a language that crosses boundaries and can connect us. I believe color is a life force. These works are about hope for the future; for a connection between people as we struggle through current complexities.”

Labovitz is a current MFA mentor at MCAD. Her work examines notions of contemporary portraiture, color, and connection through the activation of creative space. She is committed to public artworks that are interactive and participatory as well as beautiful. Using color, mark-making, and dialogue, Labovitz creates site-specific work designed to create a visceral and emotional place for viewers. Colors go beyond language in her large-scale public works, which transform the space in which it is viewed. Most recent large-scale public works include two monumental installations at the MSP Airport and her six-year international touring exhibition 122 Conversations (2014-2019).
