Lee and Herrera Soto are First Fellowship Recipients

Sieng Lee ’14, MFA, and Jonathan Herrera Soto ’17 have been awarded the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship.

Sixty fellowships were awarded to early career artists in Minnesota and New York City from the Jerome Foundation, who seeks to contribute to a dynamic and evolving culture by supporting the creation, development, and production of new works by early career and emerging artists.

Through their works, Lee reaches out to new communities in order to counteract the intimidation, boredom, or isolation they may feel in a typical art gallery or high design setting, and Herrera Soto explores various relationships between collective memory and historical instances of state-sponsored violence and trauma inflicted on politicized bodies.
