Making Room

Talented MCADians will be participating in a one-day installation along the Midtown Greenway.

Making Room is a multimedia, collaborative installation situated alongside the Midtown Greenway, a main thoroughfare for cyclists and pedestrians in the Twin Cities. This urban green space offers a unique setting where we can explore alternative modes of displaying artwork and engage a different, transitory community. The structures provide a temporary constructed gathering space where the people, conversations, and connections are part of the work itself. Making Room simultaneously references interiors and exteriors, galleries and domestic spaces. Bringing together various local artists, this pop-up exhibition considers architectural structure and domesticity from a variety of perspectives and interdisciplinary investigations.

Making Room is curated by current students Ian Hanesworth and Tom Bierlein. Participating artists include current students Ben Merritt, Christopher Schuldt, Calvin Hafermann, Kurt Austin and alum Sara Suppan.
