Several MCADians will be traveling to Chicago to present at the College Arts Association Annual Conference in February 2020: 

  • Anna Chisolm, Assistant Professor, Liberal Arts, will be presenting a paper titled: "Looking Back: Artistic Practice as a Decolonial Model"
  • Jessica Dandona, Professor, Liberal Arts, and Allan Kohl, Visual Resources and Instruction Librarian, will be presenting "Materials in Context: Experiential Learning in Art History" from a faculty and collection curator's perspective, respectively
  • Roshan Ganu, current MFA student, will be hosting an Idea Exchange Roundtable titled: "Diversifying Classroom Content to Include a Global Context"
  • Gretchen Gasterland–Gustafsson, Associate Professor, Liberal Arts, will be presenting a paper titled: "Student Engagement in Research, Writing, and Problem Solving in MCAD's Applied Arts and Designed Objects Course"
  • Ellen Mueller, Director of the MFA Program, will be leading a roundtable about professional practices in MFA programs and a workshop on how to craft a conference panel proposal. 

The CAA Annual Conference brings together over 5,000 art historians, artists, designers, and visual arts professionals in all stages of their careers. Each year they offer over 300 sessions, selected by the CAA Council of Readers and the Annual Conference Committee, representing the vast scholarship and practice of CAA members. CAA 2020 includes a full program of workshops, distinguished speaker panels, opportunities to network, and a celebrated Book and Trade Fair.
