Nomads magazine, whose editor in chief is MCAD alum Lauri Lyons, presents an article titled "The Ottoman Chic Lifestyle." The article, written by MCAD graduate John-Paul Pietrus, is a discussion with the acclaimed Ottoman historian, designer, and author Serdar Gülgün about his coffee table book Ottoman Chic. The discussion also talks about the cross-cultural lifestyle that still has travelers and design enthusiasts discovering how the East meets West.

"Post studies, he worked at Sotheby’s before returning to Istanbul in the early 1990s where he organized highly successful exhibitions of Ottoman art. His work caught the eye of luxury store Vakko Turkey, which commissioned him to design textiles with an Ottoman influence. The collaboration was also a huge success,” Pietrus writes about Gülgün. “Louis Vuitton later approached him to write the Louis Vuitton Turkish travel guides, which led to The Grand Bazaar, a detailed exploration of his daily journey through Istanbul’s legendary market."
