Jodi Reeb ’95 is curating as well as showcasing work in the exhibition Reveal and Conceal at the Kolman & Pryor Gallery. The exhibition explores two- and three-dimensional encaustic work and delves into encaustic’s potential and aesthetic concerns with work by Reeb and three other national practitioners.

“The works in this exhibition challenge the visual properties of structure, translucency, and the painted surface, while investigating scale, geometry, spatial relationships, texture, and color,” Reeb tells Kolman & Pryor Gallery. “Strong physical elements come from layering and scraping the encaustic paint while manipulating the image with oil pigments, screenprinting, and elevation from the wall. Nature’s cycles are also a theme in these artists’ work, which juxtapose geometry with the softness found in nature.”
