September 29, 2020: COVID-19 Update

Dear MCAD Community,

I hope you and your families are well. With almost one month of the academic semester already under our belt, I am pleased to let you know that we have had no reported COVID-19 cases this fall semester within our college community or on campus. Your diligence in keeping everyone safe is paying off. That said, we need to continue to be relentless in practicing our safety protocols.

I want to share with you recent updates to the MCAD COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. These updates include adjustments to the plan such as clarifying contact-tracing protocols, quarantine requirements, and mask washing. All updates are tracked in Section 20 of the Plan which summarizes the updates.

What has not changed is the need for all of us to exercise caution and diligence: If you have any COVID symptoms, have tested positive for COVID, or have been identified as a close contact, you need to stay home and send an email to for students and for faculty and staff. Timely communication allows us to protect the broader community and work with you on a safe return to MCAD.

Many of you are wondering about what our plans are for the Spring 2021 semester. Working across the college, we are in the process of finalizing dates for the upcoming spring semester. We will send an email on October 5 with these details.

I continue to be moved by your concern and care for your fellow MCAD community members. Please let us know if you have additional ideas for how to keep our campus safe. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe and well.

All my best,
