Living Banner adjectives and nouns printed in sets of three

MCAD professor Piotr Szyhalski's installation Living Banners is displayed throughout seven blocks of Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.

Szyhalski used giant letters cut from insulation foam and rolls of tyvek to create the large-scale prints. The finished works focus on the result of bringing words together, such as nouns and adjectives.

In an inteview with NorthernLights.mn, Szyhalski says, “With Living Banners I was aiming at a challenging balance of something that feels immediate, important, and bold, while at the same time being very poetic, open-ended, and intellectually “meandering.’”
