Getting to MCAD
MCAD is located at 2501 Stevens Avenue, just south of downtown Minneapolis, next to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Children’s Theatre Company.
Those with cars are typically able to find free, unrestricted parking on the streets surrounding MCAD's campus. Details about the college's parking lots are listed below.
MCAD commuter students, staff, and faculty may purchase a stored-value parking pass from the Art Cellar to utilize the $0.25/hour parking in Lot C (located at the intersection of 26th Street East and Second Avenue South) on a space-available basis. Resident students are not allowed to purchase a parking pass.
Continuing Education students should review first-day class information for parking policies.
Invited visitors may pull up to the Lot C entrance gate (located at the intersection of 26th Street East and Second Avenue South) and request access from Public Safety via the intercom. Visitors should then obtain an exit-only pass from the department they are visiting. Scheduled visitors may also receive a day pass in the mail from the department hosting their visit. If visitors forget or lose their pass, they may ask the hosting department for a replacement.
Lot C has designated parking spaces for visitors of MCAD's Admissions and Institutional Advancement departments.
Handicap-accessible parking is available for people with a state-issued handicap parking permit. Spaces are located in Lot A (located off of 25th Street and Stevens Avenue South) and in Lot C (located at the intersection of 26th Street East and Second Avenue South). Vehicles that park in these spaces without a proper state-issued permit will be subject to towing and/or ticketing.
