Experimental Screenprinting (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Experimental Screenprinting (in person)

This introduction to low-tech screenprinting covers a variety of ways to work without the use of screen filler, photo emulsion or a computer. Learn about stenciling techniques, monotype methods, and hand-drawn approaches to screenprinting.

Taking an analog approach encourages students to embrace imperfection while thinking differently about the ideation process. Learn simple and complex techniques and methods to create large quantities of artwork and quickly become comfortable with screenprinting process. With encouragement on experimentation, students follow prompts to manipulate portions of an artwork completed in class to create a new work that expands the image making process. Please note that the use of digital printout negatives and photo emulsion screenprinting are not taught in this course. / Material fee of $18 and facility fee of $63 is included in tuition. Please review the Printshop Facility Fees Supply List for more information.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
