Fabric Design and Hand Sewing Techniques with the Textile Center (in person)

Textile pattern design is a fun way to experiment with color, pattern, printmaking, fabric dying and other forms of embellishment. This class will meet at the Textile Center on Tuesday for an experience utilizing their fabulous dye lab.

Employing different printmaking methods, block printing and screenprinting, design multi-colored patterns and print directly on fabric. Discover different fabric dyeing techniques, including Shibori, at the Textile Center’s Dye Lab. Learn hand-sewing techniques and embroidery methods to assemble a small bag and embellish a one-of-a-kind tote bag. No sewing experience necessary. Students of all levels will find success in the design and creation process in this introductory fiber arts course. / Material fee of $35 and Facility fee of $30 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 12-15. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

Class meeting details

The class splits time between MCAD (Monday, Thursday, Friday) and Textile Center (Tuesday). There is no class on Wednesday. Participants must provide their own transportation to each organization.

Required supplies

Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. The material fee for this class will cover materials needed.
