Introduction to Egg Tempera Workshop (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Introduction to Egg Tempera Workshop (in person)

Egg tempera was the medieval medium of choice before oil paints were invented. It remained the choice of icon painters for centuries following and enjoyed a revival in the early 20th century, due to its unique translucence and vibrancy.

Learn a contemporary paint recipe and the time-honored techniques required to successfully paint in egg tempera. Egg tempera is an ideal medium for artists who want to layer paint to create beautiful skin tone or glowing light, but have reached a tolerance limit with the solvents required by oil painting. / This class has a 30 minute lunch break.
