Introduction to User Interface (UI) Design Workshop (online)

User Interface (UI) design is the perfect entry into tech for visually-minded people.

User interface design is the art of a digital product’s visual design language that adds personality and visual appeal to user interfaces, or UI. UI skills are needed worldwide and the demand is growing. In this workshop become familiar with UI concepts through lecture and discussion on what UI design is, what the role of a UI designer looks like and common tools and practices the field relies on. Discussion topics include the difference between UX and UI design, UI trends, the product design process and how UI fits in, and UI basics on layout, typography, color and pattern libraries.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

Class meeting details

This online course is synchronous, meaning students meet together online. The class meeting is conducted via Google Meet. Course activities include lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, and time to ask questions.

Prerequisites

Previous experience or familiarity with topics of visual design, graphic design or user experience design is helpful but not required.

Required Materials

Hardware
A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access, a camera, and microphone for class meetings and to capture and upload work. It is important to be able to capture high quality images of your work to share with the class.

Supplies

Pen or pencil, notebook or sketchbook.
