Joy and Magic of Color (Painting and Mixed Media) (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Joy and Magic of Color (Painting and Mixed Media) (in person)

Color is a powerful and exciting way for artists to express themselves. Explore the basics of color theory and color mixing to create personally expressive artworks in acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media. Ages 9–12

As a basis for their artwork, students explore personal interests, nature, and abstraction to utilize various concepts and techniques relating to color. Learn about the style and techniques of several artists in the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s collection, like Phyllis Wiener, Grace Hartigan and George Morrison, and view these artworks to discuss and learn about the power of color. At the end of the week, families and friends are invited to view the students’ work in a group exhibition. There is no class on Wednesday this week.

Open to students ages 9-12. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Summer Youth Camps Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration. Information about extended care options through Children's Theatre Company are included in the Summer Youth Camps Policies page.
