In this weeklong intensive, high school students focus on the studio practice of painting. This class covers hands-on color theory exercises, observational studies, Master copies, and experimental research. Students learn about the history of the medium itself, in addition to the art history of this time-honored tradition by studying a diverse range of global artists; including from traditionally underrepresented populations and time periods. Students work to create portfolio-worthy work. / This class will have an unsupervised 30 minute lunch break. / Professional nude models will be used in this class. / Materials and model fees of $128 included in course tuition. Open to students ages 15-18. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions.
