Trained as a printmaker, Howard Quednau has exhibited mostly paintings in recent years. His work is included in various collections, including those of Chicago's Kemper Corporation and Concordia University.

His recent 3D dioramas have been shown at the Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin, and at Metro State University in St. Paul. Quednau has lectured at a symposium on critique in Washington, DC, and in a fourteenth-century castle in County Claire, Ireland. He has been a juror for the Minnesota Scholastic Art Competition and the Minnesota State Fair.
