Describe the work you submitted for merits.

My work is an exploration of memory and nostalgia, seeking to reveal the depths of the subconscious. Propelled by emotion, each work visually reflects my inner dialogue at the time of its creation. Central to my artistic practice is the use of appropriated and found imagery, which I source from my day-to-day life along with second-hand objects which include items like old coloring books, children's toys, branding, signage, packaging, and fonts. When I encounter an image that resonates with me, it often leads to a flood of memories and associations, sparking a creative process that is deeply personal and introspective. My work serves as a testament to the power of memory and how nostalgia can shape our understanding of the past, taking what’s buried within and making it into something tangible. By focusing on imagery associated with American consumer culture, I highlight the impact of living under a capitalist system on our collective memory. My art challenges viewers to reflect on their relationship with consumer culture and reconsider how they position themselves within it.. In addition, my work asks viewers to reflect on shared experiences and memories, offering spaces for them to connect not only with me but with each other.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

MCAD from the start seemed like the perfect fit for me, as it was the only school I visited, and felt the connection. For me what stood out was the class size. Since being a smaller school, the student-to-professor ratio is incredible- from this, I have made lifelong connections.

What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?

Senior year I am taking just as any other year (at this time). For the future I am not sure what that has in store for me.

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

I am truly so inspired and proud to be able to say I am an artist, and experience that with my peers. The connections and friends made while being at MCAD will forever be held oh so close to my heart.

What inspires you?

Ephemera from the past and present! Finding things from estate sales, antique, and thrift stores all become my muse when creating my work.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

Currently, one of my favorites is the work, "Untitled, i love you this much", being eighteen plaster casted cars based off of a matchbox car my dad had. Growing up this car was on a shelf in his home office and I would always play with it. Fast forward to this year, I was at an antique store and found the same one, brought it home, and that is how the work was made. Unlike most of my other art, this work transcends the borders the canvas, and brings my concepts into the realm of performance, installation, and experience.
