Imady Comes In First at State Fair Fine Arts Show

Essma Imady ’16, MFA, was awarded with first place in the Fine Arts competition at the 2023 Minnesota State Fair.

An installation and film-based artist originally from Damascus, Syria, Imady's art focuses on her personal story, identity, and a complex relation between vision and knowledge. Her winning entry into the State Fair's Fine Arts competition is titled The Fabric of Motherhood: From Damascus to St. Paul and is a collage of fabrics, photography, and beads.
