October 12, 2022 Image Mary Welke Mary Welke ’76 is showing in solo exhibition Field and Farmlands at Owatonna Arts Center. Welke is best known for relaxing paintings of birch trees, fields, and wetlands, known for their meditative and tranquil qualities. She has a deep love and appreciation for nature that stems from her having grown up in close contact with the Mississippi river. Welke spent many days helping in her grandmother's garden and tending to vegetables and flowers during her childhood.
