Comic Art Craziness (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Comic Art Craziness (in person)

Explore an expanded definition of comic artists to include everything from Egyptian hieroglyphics, to 19th century cartoonist Rodolphe Topffer, to Hilda Terry, a pioneering female comic artist. Ages 9–12

Dive into the process of creating comic books, from storytelling, character design to the cover art. Explore drawing techniques using a variety of artist tools and materials to create cartoon facial features, as well as characters in motion. Students create and print a collaborative zine, a small-scale, self-published publication, to get creative, share ideas, and have their voices heard. A visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Art for inspiration, as well as an exhibition to display everyone’s work for families and friends to admire completes the week. Students take home a copy of the collaborative comic book.

Open to students ages 9-12. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Summer Youth Camps Policies as well as our General Policies before completing your registration. Information about extended care options through Children's Theatre Company are included in the Summer Youth Camps Policies page.
