Join us for an immersive art educators symposium on Thursday, June 18, from 12:00–5:30 p.m. Enjoy admissions presentations, campus tours, and lunch. Register for a dynamic hands-on workshop in one of MCAD's distinctive artmaking spaces from 1:00-4:00 p.m., and conclude with a happy hour event at MCAD’s onsite events space, The Buzz. Course descriptionThis workshop positions experimental drawing as a pedagogical tool for fostering equity, relational learning, and collective inquiry. Explore drawing as a collaborative practice that emphasizes process over product and challenges hierarchical models of instruction and assessment.Through shared mark-making, participants reflect on how learning emerges through relationships, responsiveness, and mutual accountability. Using both traditional and unconventional materials, the workshop encourages educators to reconsider dominant narratives around expertise, participation, and evaluation in the classroom. Spontaneity and improvisation are framed as methods for cultivating trust and inclusion, particularly across difference. Participants are invited to consider how collaborative art making can model more just, accessible, and student-centered learning environments.Open to students ages 18 and above.
